The South Downs Light Railway is wholly owned & operated by the members of the South Downs Light Railway Society Ltd, members also individually own all the locomotives & rolling stock on the line with the exception of the new Exmoor Steam Railway built 0 – 4 – 2 T Pulborough, which is jointly owned by the Society & a small number of members who have bought shares.
As a society we are affiliated to the Southern Federation of Model Engineering Societies, who provide both our public liability insurance and a Personal Accident Scheme for all members. In addition we are members of the organisation known as “
